The Social Election

There has been such a buzz around the use of social media in the election - notably the Lib Dem's Brown-Cameron combo in their labservative site, the Conservative's webcameron (and more importantly for some websamcameron) the Youtube blog where we can get updates from Cameron from a 'behind the scenes' perspective and Labour's famous crowd sourcing attempt.

However, as well as the official activity, an array of brilliant election related parody sites have also appeared. Here are some of the best...

1. David Cameron anecdote generator – simply click the button and find out who David Cameron has been talking to.

2. Domestic policy – Ikea have designed 3 kicthens whose designs are inspired by candidate. Choose from a Brun, Kamerun or Kleggi.

3. Ladbrooks viral – Watch Tony Blair placing a bet on the outcome of the election.

4.
Facebrushed - Parody site simulates what David Cameron's Facebook status updates may have been in his University days.

5. Save the Children viral game - Each animated party leader hold a baby and players upload their pictures into the infant’s face, then choose whether to pester, pee on or peck their chosen leader.

6. Slapometer – Created by Albion London, players can in indulge in giving your candidate of choice a good slap.

Bizarre Apps

I love the novelty of a good app. Be it functional or just entertaining, I've got time for it. However, now and then you come across apps which just make you wonder why?...

1. Beer opener

App store description: 'Experience the joy of opening a cold refreshing beer bottle without the inconvenience of actually consuming beer!'
- Some people might argue with the word choice 'inconvenience'!

2. Hold On!

App store description: 'Compete to see how long you can hold the button! The timer shows your progress down to the millisecond and stores your personal all-time record. Develop your perseverance and improve your concentration skills to make you more productive!'
- Certainly a novel way to improve these skills

3. UK Payphone

App Store Description: 'This application allows you to search for public payphones in the United Kingdom.'
- Perhaps I'm missing the point but you if have a phone in your hand...?

4. SimStapler

App store description: 'The first true office equipment simulator, SimStapler© brings all of the thrill and excitement of a “real” stapler right to the palm of your hand.'
- Who knew the humble stapler could be so thrilling!?

5. More Toast!

App store description: 'Make virtual toast, bagels, waffles, sandwiches and more, with nearly limitless toppings & customization.'
- …I’m still hungry!

Bowtime!

Whilst the politicians have been backtracking on their decision to raise Cider taxes by 10% (happy days! see Guardian article here) we’ve been busy earning our Bowtime, grafting hard to make an epic new ad for Strongbow.

This installment honours the unsung heroes of Great Britain, from the sofa deliverymen of the M4 corridor to the pork pie fillers of Melton Mowbray.

Hope you enjoy…I’m off to earn my Bowtime!
