WHO IS THE GREEN BANKSY?

A crusader being dubbed the "green banksy" has been credited for creating a 2 per cent drop in carbon emissions by flicking one switch. After scaling two ten foot barbed wire, electrified fences and eluding CCTV security, the campaigner walked into the power station and shut down the 500MW turbine (enough to power Bristol for a day). He left a banner proclaiming "no more coal", a war cry rallying against E.on's plan to open the first coal- powered station in over 30 years.

Nobody know's who it was, but he must've been mighty brave putting himself on the line like that - how many people have the confidence (audacity?) to get into a power station turbine and know they won't be hurt if they shut it down?

Must have been an inside job, how many people know how to shut down a power station?

Isn't he more Swampy than Banksy?

Maybe it was an inside job - it's pretty gutsy though. More swampy than banksy - maybe - he din' hang around for long. Though maybe he's up a tree somewhere now. Who knows?!

I think it might be the boy who escaped being electrocuted from the school safety films I watched as a kid?

I don't reckon its an inside job - too massive for words. I just reckon he did a very good job of scoping - probably watched and figured out when security tea breaks were. As for knowing what to do, maybe he's a scientist who's decided to go rogue to save the planet. So very cool! I wonder if he'll strike again. If he does, he'll put Ed Milliband in a terrible fix - he'll be expected to denounce it, but then again at this rate, the guy is going to be instrumental in Milliband's department hitting their climate change targets. hee hee!
Interesting that I haven't seen any stories about the chaos it sparked in the outside world (ie, when people's power went off). Does that mean that no one noticed? (and that therefore, we don't need to rely on power supplies nearly as much we think we do?) Hmmm.

that is really interesting becs. You'd think if we lost the amount of power needed to power a city the size of bristol we'd see something!

Yes, I suspect tomorrow's news will report a crisis of epic proportions, by way of someone's TV turning itself off ;-)

The more I read this, the more I think of it being a Homer Simpson-esque character trying to cover up a mistake. Maybe he nudged the wrong button when dozing at work.
